Spring Break Destination

There are many great things about living in the Islands, but one of our favorites is that we live in a tropical vacation destination and that means we get visitors! It was Spring Break week in Arkansas and North Carolina - so we got a week with the Daily/Johnson Crew!  Pop, CiCi, Auntie M and Avery rented a neat little house within walking/biking distance to our home . . and bonus, the boys could fish off a different dock!
Here is the bird situation I mentioned earlier . . . the chum bag attracted not only fish, but the birds  . . leading to one caught on Jayden's hook!  We had a crowd and all Pittsboys on deck to help with the rescue!

We spent some time at the Theater of the Sea and Robbie's Marina on day . .

An afternoon at Bahia Honda . . .

Dinner at Sunset Grill one night and a family fish grill at their house one night to eat up some of our Snapper from the boys fishing trip.
I enjoyed having some girl time . .  Island Girls! (How did Auntie M escape my camera?! . .  probably because she was working and chasing a 4 year old while she was here!)
Avery liked the Iguana feedings off our back porch . . .

Pop and CiCi headed to Key West one morning and later that afternoon Auntie M, Avery, the boys and I joined them . . .

Key West isn't the best destination for a 4 year old . . so the rest of crew headed back and left us Pitts to do our thing.  We had lunch at Amigos and dinner at a Japanese Garden that Kyler was wanting to check out.  We also made it to a cool book store, fly fishing shop and some sunset shows at Mallory Square before heading back home.
Avery at Sombrero Beach . . I told her to pose.. . I LOVE this - so cute!

Time at their dock and coloring with Avery . . .

We checked out Long Beach State Park with the crew . . .

It was fun monkeying around the Islands with the Fam!

Spring Break Beginnings

We know . . Its the Thursday before everybody elses Spring Break . .  but it's time for Kerry to re-unite with his Island life!  .
 I love a good low tide . . perfect for starfish gazing . . .
Hoping for some Irish luck on this St. Patty's day . . bridge fishing . . .

Dinner at Sunset Grill . . .

The boys spent a day on a flats boats ( I crashed a resort in Islamorada while waiting on my fishermen to return)

I love this picture as they were heading out for a day of fishing . . check out the fish right around their boat!

. .  And they returned with snapper a plenty and many a good fishing tales!
Kerry's stay overlapped with our other Spring Break Crew - he headed back on Tuesday.  There is a picture of the bird Jayden caught (yes, I said BIRD)  off our beach and all Pittsboys were on deck to set it free. ** I'll add it when I get my hands on it!
Phase II of Spring Break continues . . .

Island Times on Island Time

One of our first weekends we hit the festival in Islamorada - it was neat to check out the fishing gear, sip island drinks and snow cones and look at local art and of course BOATS -- we are pretty sure we are going to win the raffle for the fancy boat (drawing is May 6th - keep your fingers crossed!)
Jayden had to pick up his study book for his Life guarding class and we found a new pool with a high dive!  This is Kyler mid- jump!
Caught on one of first days here, right out the door!
 more festival action . . .

The skate park is right down the street and perfect for mid- afternoon activities with Evan's new scooter, Kyler's new skate board and Jayden finally got his down to the keys (it was hanging out at the office in NWA!)
Just some afternoon brother talk on the back porch . . .
Since we have to drop Jayden off at life guard classes in the upper keys, we mind-as-well head a little further to Miami, right?  Trampoline parks were calling these kiddos names . . .
This Arkansas boy just passed his entrance exam for life guard school in the KEYS!  AND . . . set a new record on the brick retrieval part!
It's Turtle hospital time . . Evan is checking out the babies . . .

The beautiful Bahia Honda . . it's dreamy isn't it!

I bet that this group pic we attempted would have been a good one . .  but, looks like all we got was Kyler running back to pose with us!
The sand is like baby powder . . .

It's festival time again . .  this time it was right down the street and our favorite kind of festival . .  a FOOD festival!  Kyler at the top of the mountain climbing wall . . .
 Time to do some flips!
I tried to take it all in so I could report back to Kerry!  The lobster was amazing!  Kyler and Evan got filmed while waiting on their balloon creations for the Keys travel show!  (Jayden is at Life Guard classes all day-- but we came back that night so he could take part in the fun!)

After lots of classes, pool drills, CPR and First Aide training, written tests and skills test - our oldest is officially a Life Guard . . .  AND he was named Guard of the Week and beat out his classmates with his timed save test!  Super proud of him!
Kyler researched up a cool place by Key Biscayne to mountain bike . . . he had seen videos of the trails and them making some of the ramps.  We decided to check it out on one of our Miami days and it has since become one of our favorite things to do!

I love the views of Miami from the trails and the ginormous yachts!

Evening are spent climbing the mangroves, biking to the park with friends and fishing . . .

Right down the street is a state park with one of the oldest homes in the keys on it and lots of walking trails and wild life . . .

  . . . and cool climbing trees

 Low tide exploring . . .
Evan got a new "do" at Dee's Hair Sensations . . . he looks thrilled, doesn't he.  (He likes the hair, just not the annoyance of a picture!)

I just LOVE starfish . . and this one was found right outside at our beach!
